What to Expect

Thank you for considering worshiping at Central Baptist Church. We look forward to seeing you soon. We recognize that you might be visiting from another church, or completely new to church. Here are some common questions folks ask about our church. Let us know if you have any other questions, we would love to serve you. You can submit questions using the contact form at the bottom of this page.

Where Do I Go?

When you visit Central Baptist for the first time, come in the main entrance facing Monroe St. It is the set of doors next to the bell tower. We have a Welcome Desk there for your convenience. Someone friendly will greet you and direct you to children and adult Sunday School classes or a great seat in the sanctuary.

What Should I Wear?

We don’t get hung up on what you are wearing. The church family at Central Baptist is full of folks who recognize that it is what’s inside that counts. You will find a variety of folks that feel comfortable coming in jeans or dresses or the occasional necktie. We want you to know that we care about who you are not what you look like.

What Kind of Worship Can I Expect?

We are all about congregational singing. Worship through song is all about giving Glory to God. We have a worship team that leads us in song every Sunday. We sing everything from classic hymns and choruses to some of the worship songs you hear on Christian Radio today. You can preview the selection of this coming Sunday’s songs HERE. Our Worship Service includes elements of giving, praying, and reading Scripture. Sunday morning should be a time to tune our hearts to God. The preaching is expository and focused on the text of the day. Our worship service lasts roughly an hour each week.

Where Do My Children Go?

We have Sunday School classes for every age. Stop by the Welcome Desk and our friendly volunteers will help you find the age-appropriate class for your children. Our volunteer-staffed nursery can take great care of babies up to toddlers. Kids are always welcome in our Worship Services. We believe that every person should be able to be part of the Worship Service. We want children to feel comfortable in our services, and Quiet Trays are available for them at the Welcome desk. These plastic lap desks have coloring pages, soft games, puzzles, and other activities aimed to keep kids engaged during the sermons. If your kids are up to it, during the Worship Service, children of all ages can leave with some of our wonderful volunteers before the preaching starts to go to Children’s Church where they will hear an age-appropriate Bible Lesson and have some fun through games and songs. This happens on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Sunday of each month. On the 4th and 5th Sundays, everyone stays together in the Worship Service. Parents you can pick up your children in the Children’s Church room which is in the hallway down from the Fellowship Hall.
