Our Philosophy of Music Ministry

At Central Baptist Church, our music ministry exists for one primary purpose: to focus our gathered voices on lifting high the name of Christ.

Music is not the whole of our worship; but it is a powerful part of it. God has uniquely wired song and melody to engage the heart, shape our affections, and unite the church in praise. For that reason, we approach music not as a performance, but as congregational worship.

Those who lead from the platform are not performers. They are servants helping the whole church sing together with clarity, confidence, and joy.

What We Sing

We sing songs that are:

  • Biblically faithful
  • Theologically clear
  • Congregationally singable

Our goal is not novelty, but participation. We choose music that allows the entire congregation both young and old, trained and untrained to join together in praise.

Why We Sing

We sing because:

  • Scripture commands us to sing to the Lord
  • Singing teaches truth and embeds it in our hearts
  • Unified voices reflect the unity of the church
  • Praise reorients us toward God’s glory

Singing together reminds us that worship is not something we watch; it’s something we do. Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19; James 5:13

Why We Use Lyric Videos & Tracks

At this season in our church’s life, we use lyric videos and accompaniment tracks during worship.

Here’s why:

  • We currently do not have members who are able to regularly play instruments
  • Lyric videos help everyone clearly see and sing the words together
  • Tracks provide consistent musical support for congregational singing

This is not a permanent limitation; it’s simply where we are right now.

Who Can Lead & Serve

Our music ministry is led by a praise team, whose role is to guide the congregation; not replace it. We have men, women, and teenagers participate in our paise team. We are always open to new voices and volunteers. If you enjoy singing, playing an instrument, or helping with worship planning, we would love for you to explore serving with us.

Practice: Sundays at 8:15 AM
